Heron’s Landing receives donation

Virginia Supportive Housing can now provide more permanent housing and support services for formerly homeless veterans, thanks to Dominion Virginia Power. The Dominion Foundation has donated $25,000 to VSH communities in Hampton Roads, including its newest Heron's Landing in Chesapeake on S. Military Highway. To learn more about VSH, visit www.virginiasupportivehousing.org.

Before they found Heron's Landing, Smith, Ross and Doodle lived in cars.

Kendra Smith shows Dominion's Max Bartholomew around the housing community for single adults with no children. Having their own mailbox is a big source of pride for the formerly homeless residents.

The Heron's Landing residents also take care of their own garden, which has corn, tomatoes and other fresh vegetables. 98% of the people VSH serves do not return to homelessness.
